NPA Couple Surrenders to 20th Infantry Battalion
CAMP LUKBAN, Catbalogan City, Samar
– Two members of New Peoples Army (NPA) identified as Lemuel Moreno and
his wife Nida Moreno, voluntarily surrendered to the elements of the
20th Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army last
June 14, 2013 at Brgy Santander, Bobon, Northern Samar. The duo brought
with them two Caliber .45 pistols with two magazines and four (4) rounds
of ammunition.
During the initial interview conducted,
it was learned that Lemuel Moreno aka Kulas and Nida Moreno aka Mina
were the Squad Leader and Medical Officer respectively of Section
Committee 2 of the Northern Samar Provincial Party Committee operating
in the hinterlands of Northern Samar.
Under the AFP Guns For Peace Program,
the two surrenderees will be receiving the amount of P25,000.00 each or a
total of P50,000.00 as part of the firearms remuneration package and
other existing government assistance coming from the line government
agencies.
