Soldiers recover firearms from suspected NPA after 40-minute firefight in Quezon

Government troops and suspected New People's Army rebels engaged in a 49-minute firefight in General Nakar town in Quezon province on Tuesday.

Police in General Nakar said the incident occurred at 10 a.m. in Barangay Mahabang Lalim, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.

Investigation showed a Scout platoon from the Army's 1st Infantry Battalion encountered 30 suspected NPAs.

After the firefight, the soldiers recovered an AK47 assault rifle with four magazines, an M16 rifle, an M1 Garand rifle, three homemade shotguns, a handheld radio and three backpacks with personal belongings and subversive documents. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
