Nawa said the BDA had facilitated the capacity-building trainings of the People’s Organizations which were trained in project preparation, implementation and management.

Hadjinor pointed out that BDA, despite being a Moro agency, is inclusive in helping communities citing that three are three IP-dominated barangays namely Ticulab, Amsipit and Libi were given projects.

The BDA staff even faced difficulty in introducing the project to IP communities due to distrust towards the Moro staff by the non-Muslim beneficiaries.

“But through community consultations and Values Transformation Training, which is the flagship program of the BDA, the non-Muslim beneficiaries understood our objectives and desire for inclusive development where community members take part in handling projects,” Nawa related.

Kalinaw Sarangani Project Manager Jennifer Kamid thanked BDA for continuing its support to the province particularly in the conflict affected communities.

“The provincial government will count the huge contribution of BDA for the overall development of Sarangani,” she said.

BDA is the development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which spearheads the development of conflict affected areas of Mindanao.

The various projects and programs of BDA have been supported by various international development partners such us European Union, AusAID, JICA and World Bank.
