5 NPA rebels surrender to the Army in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – Five members of the New People’s Army laid down their arms and surrendered to Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion yesterday evening, January 9, 2018 at Brgy Kamasi, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.


The former rebels voluntarily surrendered to Ltc Lauro Oliveros, Commanding Officer, 1st Mech Battalion citing the resentful system of the NPA that are merely propagating lies to the T”boli community in the town of South Cotabato.

The returnees who belonged to the platoon Samsung GF 73 were identified as Sing O Maquil, 30 years old, Daniel T Fonok, 25 years old, Panni L Sina, 18 years old, Marvin S Ginang, 30 years old and Taan M Ayunan, 30 years old all of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato

Accordingly, they are tired of hiding, experienced hunger and hardship and dissatisfied of NPA ideology.

The surrenderees turned over two homemade Ingram and one homemade Uzi.

Our intensified efforts through combat operations and information disseminations against terrorist group with the support of all local chief executives and other stakeholders encouraged more the rebels to surrender and assured to receive the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP), 6ID Commander Major General Arnel Dela Vega, said.
