MILF commanders vow to strengthen unity

Armed Forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (BIAF – MILF)
celebrated their vow to strengthen unity and brotherhood in a Kanduli
held at Barangay Damatulan in Midsayap, Cotabato last April 18, 2012.
Commanders Adzmi KAsim, Zaid Pakiladatu, Ustads Abas Kuaranding, Hawn
and Barakudah, including their field commanders and sympathizers, made
the vow prompted by the peaceful resolution of their misunderstandings
that had been in their midst the past few years.
Central Mindanao Front – BIAF Commander Gordon Sayfullah Khan spearheaded the disputes resolution following instructions from the BIAF Chief of Staff Sammy Al Mansur and Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, Chairman of MILF Central Committee.
The Kanduli (prayerful) celebration was assisted by the The Asia
Foundation (TAF), a member of the International Contact Group of the
Peace Process between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and MILF,
through the Mindanao Actions for Peace and Development Incorporated
(MAPAD).
It was attended by almost one thousands peoples from different
barangays and stakeholders of peace. During the event, the Brunei
contingent of the International Monitoring Team, MILF-CCCH, Mindanao
Human Right Action Center (MinHRAC) and some MILF high-ranking officers
from the Central Committee and the BIAF General Staff were also present.
MILF leaders and the BIAF commanders and the civilian communities and
sympathizers all together held on to rope while reciting their mubayyah
(pledge) for unity and brotherhood. Sheik Abdulkadir Abdullah led the
mubaya and cited the passage of the Holy Qur’an “O you who believe hold
fast altogether to the rope of Allah and do not separate.”
Meanwhile, the MILF CCCH, GPH CCCH and the Malaysia-led IMT together
with the local government of Pikit headed by Mayor Sumulong Sultan met
yesterday to facilitate the implementation of the initiative of the MILF
leadership to resolve the feuds between MILF troops in Barangay
Balabak, in Pikit.
An agreement was reached during the meeting presided over by Mayor Sultan allowing the initiatives of the MILF to start today.
Mayor Sultan and the ceasefire mechanisms of the GPH – MILF Peace
Process expressed confidence that the MILF can resolve this
misunderstanding.
