Faustino is next AFP chief

MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte's appointment of Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino, Jr. as its next chief.

"The AFP welcomes the decision of the President to appoint Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino as the next Chief of Staff of the AFP, replacing General Cirilito Sobejana who will retire on Saturday, July 31," said AFP public affairs office chief, Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata, in a statement.

Sobejana, a Medal of Valor awardee and member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1987, is scheduled to retire after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.

His replacement, Faustino, a member of PMA Class of 1988, is the incumbent commander of the Joint Task Force Mindanao.

AFP, PEZA ink agreement on defense industrial ecozones

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority signed an agreement on Thursday, July 29, that will guide future use of military reservations as “defense industrial ecozones.”

 The Memorandum, signed by the AFP Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana and PEZA Director General BGen Charito Plaza (Res), is aimed at supporting the AFP modernization program.

NTF-ELCAC sets record milestones vs. CPP-NPA-NDF

MANILA – The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) headed by President Rodrigo Duterte has accomplished more than any other administrations in neutralizing the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army – National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

In his message on the success of the NTF-ELCAC, President Duterte said: “Our past experiences have shown us that a purely military-centric approach to the problem will not achieve the desired results. Assessing on our past practices, we have come to the conclusion that solving the insurgency requires a holistic and inclusive process which responds to the basic needs of our communities.”

AFP Statement on Designation of NDFP as Terrorist Organization

The Armed Forces of the Philippines lauds the designation of the National Democratic Front as a terrorist organization by the Anti-Terrorism Council.

It has been a long time coming.

The designation affirms the duplicity of the Communist Party of the Philippines that commands their armed group New People's Army and the so-called legal front that provides support for their terroristic activities.

Kabacan, North Cotabato (July 17, 2021)- In a peace forum organized and attended by members of the political committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held at Magatos, Kabacan, Cotabato on July 17, the Bangsamoro people outside the core territory of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Regioln in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), specifically North Cotabato, have convened to express their concerns after the signing of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), and establishment of the BARMM. Participants were Municipal chairmen of the Political and Information Committees , BIAF, SWC and other line agencies of the MILF.

 

For the BARMM government, the administrator of the Special Geographic Area Mohammad Killie Antao along with the Kabacan cluster coordinator Jabib Guiabar and Staff of Member of the Parliament Mohagher Iqbal headed by the Wahab Guialal were in attendance.
