MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte told Bangsamoro leaders on Friday to “wield power” carefully and reminded them that the fate of the new region is in their hands.

“To my dear Bangsamoro sisters and brothers in the BTA (Bangsamoro Transition Authority), the power to chart the course of your region’s future is now in your hands,” Duterte said during his speech at the inauguration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in Cotabato City.

AFP: Reds running out of fighting cadres

MANILA — The communist rebels’ bloody defeat in Victoria, Northern Samar on Thursday, where three insurgents were killed and another was captured, is an indication that the revolutionary movement is running out of cadres capable of fighting a war, a military official said.

“Their latest debacle in Northern Samar is an indication that they have run out of cadres who can wage an armed struggle. What they have are young students recruited and deceived to hold the guns for the old and sickly (Communist Party of the Philippines founding chair) Mr. (Jose Maria ‘Joma’) Sison who is safely hiding in (the) Netherlands,” Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief, Col. Noel Detoyato, said in a message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Friday.

GRP panel to be reconstituted for localized peace talks

MANILA -- The termination of appointments of the members of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) Negotiating Panel will pave the way for the creation of an inclusive panel that will supervise localized peace engagements, Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Wednesday.

Galvez said the composition of the new panel will be based on the Colombian model which includes representatives from different sectoral groups, local government units, and the military whose presence are essential to the peace negotiations.

This was the message of President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday as he slammed the door on the possible resumption of peace talks with the communist rebels.

“I am officially announcing the termination of the talks between the government peace panel and the Communist Party of the Philippines,” Duterte said in his speech at the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Army.

Duterte is like an old broken record endlessly terminating the peace negotiations

Duterte is like an old broken record repeating ad nauseam his termination of the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations. As far as the NDFP is concerned, Duterte formally killed the peace negotiations on November 23, 2017 with his Proclamation 360 terminating them. 

Since then, what Duterte has been doing is merely driving more nails into the coffin of the peace negotiations under his regime. He needs the continuance of the armed conflict as the excuse to impose on the people a de facto martial law nationwide and eventually a full-blown fascist dictatorship through charter change to a bogus kind of federalism.

Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao– The inauguration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the first session of Bangsamoro Parliament will push through on March 25, with Malacañang confirming President Duterte’s attendance to grace the rescheduled events.

The original scheduled was March 11 as mentioned by members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) and interim Chief Minister (ICM) Murad Ebrahim during their first caucus here last February 27, said a report by Manila Bulletin.

AFP issues manual on release of requested military info

Only the Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff can approve or reject information requests to the military establishment.

The AFP over the weekend officially released its manual on freedom of information (FOI), cascading to all ground units the standard operating procedures, remedies and administrative liabilities in enforcing President Duterte’s Executive Order No. 2 which provides for the people’s right to information.

Army adopts Krav Maga self-defense system

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army adopts Krav Maga as its self-defense system during the closing ceremony of the International Krav Maga Federation Trainer’s Training at the Army Wellness Center, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig on Wednesday, Mar. 13, 2019.

Fifty-seven students from different Army units underwent the three-week training and will serve as Krav Maga trainers back in their respective units.

On the plan to set-up National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict

The plan to set-up “National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict” shows the Duterte regime is using counter insurgency as pretext to exercise de-facto martial law powers nationwide civilian officials are under pressure to “operate” by the AFP under pain of being red-tagged, as well as by threats of being included in Duterte’s made-up narco list. Local government officials and the entire bureaucracy are being made to bow to the military. The aim is to silence all legit opposition to Duterte’s corruption and power abuse and make everyone fall in line to his authoritarian regime. This is part of Duterte’s scheme to rig the May elections to favor his candidate as preparation for establishing a “federal system” as facade for his fascist dictatorship.
