CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—Brigadier General Allan Arrojado, a former Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, was designated as Commander of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region effective 03 January 2018.

AFP Chief of Staff General Rey Leonardo Guerrero cited BGen Arrojado’s “expertise and experience in counterterrorism” having served in positions of major responsibility against the Abu Sayyaf Group and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.

“His record of service speaks of his capability, capacity and commitment. Your expertise and experience in counterterrorism will be of great value in our peace and security efforts here in NCR,” General Guerrero said.

Prior to his assignment as new commander of the JTF-NCR, BGen Arrojado also served as Deputy Commander of the Central Command based in Cebu. He also led the 601st Infantry Brigade deployed in North Cotabato and the 501st Infantry Brigade also based in Sulu.

BGen Arrojado, a member of Philippine Military Academy “Maharlika” Class of 1984, replaced MGen Jesus Manangquil Jr in a Change of Command Ceremony held at the JTF NCR compound here.

"We are confident that BGen Arrojado will sustain the momentum set by his predecessor,” General Guerrero added.

The AFP Chief also announced the designation of MGen Manangquil as new Commander of the 9th Infantry Division based in the Bicol Region, replacing BGen Danilo Chad Isleta who serves as Deputy Commander and Acting Commander after Major General Manolito Orense bowed out of military service on 10 December 2017.

Gen. Guerrero also lauded the accomplishments of JTFNCR under the stewardship of MGen Manangquil as outstanding and "above expectation".

“The command of the JTF NCR is a challenge owing to the importance of its area of operations,” General Guerrero concluded. ###
