DSWD sends assistance to evacuees affected by armed conflict in Batangas City

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) calls on its offices to assist civilians caught in the armed conflict happening in Batangas City since September 24, 2017. The DSWD, through its Field Office in CALABARZON, has been gathering information and coordinating with the provincial local government unit  (LGU)  on efforts to help affected civilians.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) awarded scholarships to dependents of soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the rebellion in Marawi, Friday night, 15 September 2017 here at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club.
 
“The AFP Chief of Staff, General Eduardo Año himself awarded the scholarship certificates to the dependents of TSg Aldrin Dinglasan PN(M), Pfc Jobert Hollero PA, and SSg Larry Lopez PA, all of whom died while fighting the Maute-ISIS terrorist group in Marawi City,” Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo, AFP Public Affairs Chief said.

CSAFP visits wounded soldiers at Army hospital

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Eduardo M. Año visited wounded soldiers currently recuperating at the Army General Hospital (AGH), Health Service Command here today, Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

The highlight of the visit was the ceremonial turnover of financial assistance from private donors and care packages from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Officers Ladies Club to 97 soldiers wounded in action. The said soldiers were wounded in the encounters with the lawless terrorist groups in Marawi City and in other parts of the country.

NORTHERN SAMAR – In the occasion of the 45th anniversary commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law, the New People’s Army-Rodante Urdal Command (NPA-RUC) reminds the public of the valuable lessons of Martial Law, invokes people to denounce Duterte-Marcos tandem’s persistent efforts to revise history, calls for vigilance on the orchestrated scheme to railroad the implementation of Martial Law in the entire country and dares the Filipino people to transform resistance against Martial Law into revolutionary dissent. 

“Martial Law is not a tale of the past long gone. Remnants of Martial Law are still existent, US-Duterte’s fascism is reminiscent of the horrors of the past and the conditions for revolutionary dissent are ripe more than ever,” Amado Pesante, RUC Spokeserson said.
Pesante said the semicolonial semifeudal system was the very condition that brought iron-hand rule of then President Ferdinand Marcos by declaring Martial Law in September 21, 1972. “The crisis of a semicolonial semifeudal system in the 70s rendered people’s dissent inevitable. US-Marcos found no other recourse but suppress the escalating anger through Martial Law. But instead of containing anger, state fascism has only exposed the rottenness of the system and aroused people to tread the revolutionary path,” Pesante noted.

5 Maute ISIS Terrorists Neutralized

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año expressed his commendations to the troops in Marawi over the confirmed neutralization of five (5) Daesh-inspired Maute members who opted to continue with their  terrorist ways and refused to heed the call to surrender, be treated humanely, mend their ways, and live a life of a true believer of Islam.

LTGen Carlito Galvez Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command reports to the AFP Chief that two dead bodies of terrorists were recovered with each of their high-powered firearms and a pair of night vision googles after around 30 minutes of fierce firefight by Marines of 62nd MC, Marine Special Operations Group that conducted the assault at wee hours of the morning on or about 0119H of 12 Sept 2017. Other personal effects of the neutralized terrorists were also seized.

DND says conflict in Marawi nearing its end


The Department of National Defense on Friday, September 15, announced that the ongoing rebellion in Marawi City is nearing its end, with only less than two barangays left with the presence of Maute terrorists.

“Konti na lang ‘yung natitira rito. This is just one and a half barangay-wide. The area is just one and a half barangays. That’s why I’ve been told by our ground commanders that malapit na raw,” Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said during the Mindanao Hour press briefing in Malacañan.

  1. Duterte’s demand for an NPA ceasefire while the AFP conducts all-out war as precondition for peace talks is a demand to surrender. This is an unacceptable. Does Duterte really take the revolutionary forces for fools?

  3. Duterte has lost all moral ground to make such a demand. Recall that the NPA declared a ceasefire on August 19, 2016 which lasted for close to 160 days as a response to Duterte’s signed commitment to release around 500 political prisoners through an amnesty proclamation. Duterte, however, wasted the goodwill of the NDFP when it failed to fulfill its commitment and took advantage of the NPA ceasefire to deploy his soldiers and conduct military offensives.

  5. In the face of Duterte’s tyrannical rule and triple war, the people clamor for the NPA to mount more and more tactical offensives. Victories of the people’s army inspire resistance amid widespread killings and the climate of fear imposed by the Duterte regime.
