MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte finds no problem if the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) would no longer talk peace under his administration.

“If they are not willing to talk to me, that’s fine. I don’t have problem,” Duterte said in a media interview after gracing the 25th Annual National Convention of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines in Panglao, Bohol on Thursday night.

Balay has called on concerned local government units and the military authorities to uphold humanitarian protection and to take steps to ensure civilian safety and welfare following the reported deaths of a pregnant woman and a 14-year old boy at the height of mortar shelling operations initiated by the armed forces against members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in the areas around the Liguasan Marsh in North Cotabato and Maguindanao. since June 10.

Army deploys additional troops to assist in Marawi rehabilitation

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army deployed additional troops composed of 130 personnel of the 12^th Civil-Military Operation “Kabukludan” Battalion and Hijab Troopers to Marawi City through a simple send-off ceremony held at Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City on June 21, 2018. 

The 12^th CMO Battalion and the Hijab Troopers, which will be placed under operational control of the Joint Task Force Ranao will assist in the rehabilitation of Marawi City that suffered massive devastation as a result of the five-month long battle between government forces and the ISIS-inspired Maute terrorist group last year.

Abdula said that “Passing a Comprehensive Agreement for the Bangsamoro (CAB)-compliant Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will correct historical injustices committed against the Moro People.”

MANILA, Philippines — The resumption of peace talks between the government and communist rebels originally set for this month has been cancelled.

President Duterte ordered the cancellation, according to presidential adviser on the peace process Jesus Dureza, to allow a more thorough engagement with the public on the issue.

MANILA -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines has expressed its strong support for President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to postpone the resumption of peace talks with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to allow the public to engage more in the peace process.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines is one with the nation in earnestly yearning for a lasting peace in our land that will be owned by and acceptable to the Filipino people at large," AFP spokesperson Col. Edgard Arevalo said in a message to reporters Friday.

GRP cancellation of stand down ceasefire starting on June 21 and resumption of formal talks in Oslo on June 28 is frustrating

It is both disappointing and frustrating that the Duterte regime has unilaterally cancelled the scheduled start of the stand-down ceasefire on June 21 and the resumption of formal talks in the peace negotiations in Oslo a week later on June 28.

The written agreements pertaining to the aforesaid scheduled events have been signed by no less than the respective chairpersons of the GRP and the NDFP negotiating panels, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello and Fidel V. Agcaoili, and witnessed by the Royal Norwegian special envoy Ambasador Idun Tevdt on June 9.

I urge the two negotiating panels to release to the public and to the press the written and signed agreements of June 9 and 10 signed by the chairmen of the GRP and NDFP negotiating panels and by the members of their respective special teams.
