CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Major General Felimon Santos Jr assumed as the new commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM) on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Davao City.

Former EASTMINCOM Commander and now AFP Chief of Staff, General Benjamin Madrigal Jr presided over the Change of Command Ceremony at Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan.

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila- The Philippine Army activated the 6th Mechanized Infantry “Salaknib” Battalion of the Mechanized Infantry Division (MID) at its headquarters at Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac today, Jan. 18, 2019.

The activation ceremony of the new battalion was presided by the Commanding General Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto.

Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao– In an interview with Rappler on January 22, Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, Chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) said that they have submitted to Malacañang its list of nominees to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA."

We have completed the 41 nominees already and submitted to the Office of the President and we made sure there is geographical representation and the sectoral representation also," he said during a Rappler Talk interview on Tuesday, January 22.

NPA-NEMR preparing to release the POWs, hampered by the continuous military operations of the AFP

The Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and the command of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Front 21B and 21C disclosed that they are preparing to release the two soldiers of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion (SFB), Philippine Army (PA) and the 13 members of the Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) who are their prisoners of war (POWs). The plan however, is hampered by the continuous military operations launched by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the utter disregard of AFP officials and the Government of the Philippines (GRP) for the welfare of their troops captured by the NPA.

President Duterte vows to protect civilians from NPA

CATAINGAN, MASBATE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday, January 9, vowed to protect civilians residing in the mountains from “harassment” and “intimidation” by members of the New People’s Army (NPA). 

 

The Chief Executive made this promise at the Cataingan National High School Grandstand where he received 118 former NPA rebels who surrendered to the government.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr was promoted to the rank of General in a donning ceremony Thursday, January 10.

The Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana donned the new ranks to Gen. Madrigal in the defense department building here.

Denounce police surveillance against teachers and other democratic sectors

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) joins the Filipino people in strongly denouncing the stepped-up surveillance by Duterte’s police forces against members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) as well as other democratic mass organizations.

The surveillance was exposed after leaders of ACT revealed that officials of the Department of Education in Metro Manila and other provinces were being asked to inform the police of the roster of ACT’s membership. Its members reported being tracked down by police operatives to their homes.

Residents of various Maguindanao towns Join Peace Caravan

Datu Paglas, Maguindanao- Maguindanao- Thousands of residents from different towns of Maguindanao participated in a peace caravan early morning on January 9 in support to the upcoming plebiscite on January 21, 2019 for the ratification of Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).

The participants came from the municipalities of Datu Paglas, Buluan, Pandag,  Paglat, Mangudadatu and General Salipada K. Pendatun.
