Duterte’s EO 158 and “local peace talks” are anti-peace and counterrevolutionary

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) calls on the Filipino people, especially advocates of a just and lasting peace, to reject and denounce Duterte’s Executive Order (EO) 158 issued last December 27, 2021 that purportedly “strengthens peace, reconciliation and unity” but which, in fact, is anti-peace and counterrevolutionary. Duterte’s EO 158 promotes a fake peace and will completely shut the doors to serious peace negotiations.

MAWAB, DAVAO DE ORO - Menandro Villanueva alias BOK, the longest-serving Secretary of Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), currently the Secretary of Komisyong Mindanao (KOMMID), Commanding Officer of the NPA’s National Operations Command (NOC), and member of the POLITBURO of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) was killed in an encounter against the troops under 1001st Infantry Brigade at Brgy Libudon, Mabini, Davao de Oro on Wednesday evening, January 5, 2022.

Operating troops of the Philippine Army's 3rd Infantry Battalion (3IB) under 10th Infantry Division successfully recovered war materials including M16 rifle, M16 handguard, four back packs, assorted medical paraphernalia, cooking pot, and other supplies in two successive encounters against nine CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) with the tip of community at Barangay Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon on January 10, 2022.
