Sa pamamagitan ng presensya ng tropa, gamit militar at nukleyar na arsenal nito sa Pilipinas, inilalagay ng US ang buong rehiyong Asia sa “bingit ng isang nukleyar na Armageddon.” Ito ang babala ni Prof. Roland Simbulan sa isang webinar na pinamagatang “Countercurrents: Foreign Policies and Anti-imperialist Struggle na inilunsad noong Pebrero 4. Si Simbulan ay isang propesor sa University of the Philippines at pangalawang pangulo ng Center for People’s Empowerment in Governance.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines and Australia discussed the possibility of pursuing joint patrols in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), only days after the former held similar talks with the United States to counter China’s growing assertiveness in the region.

Makabayan bloc blasts bid to expand US access to more military bases in PH

MANILA, Philippines — The Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives has slammed the agreement to add four new Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca) sites in the country as it argued that the move further pushes the Philippines into the middle of the tension between the United States and China.

Rep. Arlene Brosas of the Gabriela Women’s Party said Friday that the expansion of US access to Philippine military bases, which brings the total Edca bases from five to nine, “practically [allows] increased US military rotational presence across the country.”

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro government launched on Thursday, Jan. 26, the Peace, Security, and Reconciliation office whose major task is to settle rido (feuds) among warring groups, particularly, Moro combatants during the transitional government.
