8 Generals, Senior Officers to Assume Key-Positions in AFP

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City –
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomes the appointment of
four Generals and four Senior Officers to major positions, including the
Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Military Academy,
and Intelligence Service. The new designations were approved by the
President and AFP Commander-in-Chief, Benigno S. Aquino III.
Maj.
Gen. Nonato Alfredo T. Peralta Jr. will assume as the new Commander of
the 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army (PA) replacing MGen Eduardo D
Del Rosario. He is the current Superintendent of the Philippine
Military Academy (PMA) based in Fort Gregorio Del Pilar in Baguio City.
Peralta is a member of the (PMA) “Matapat” Class of 1979.
To replace Peralta as the new PMA Superintendent is Lt. Gen. Irineo C. Espino. He is the current AFP Inspector General, and is also a member of the PMA “Matapat” Class of 1979.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Eduardo M.
Año will assume as the new Chief, Intelligence Service, AFP (ISAFP)
replacing Maj. Gen. Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo. Año is the current Assistant
Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, AFP. He is a member of the PMA
“Matikas” Class of 1983.
To replace Año as the new Assistant
Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, AFP is Brig. Gen. Virgilio A.
Hernandez. He is the current Assistant Chief, ISAFP, and is also a
member of the PMA “Matikas” Class of 1983.
New appointments will
also take place in several Army brigades and divisions. Col. Felix J.
Castro Jr. will assume as the new Assistant Division Commander of the
9th Infantry Division, PA. He will replace Brigadier General Aurelio B.
Baladad who was recently appointed as the new AFP Deputy Chief of Staff
for Operations. Castro is the current Commander of the 903rd Infantry
Brigade, 9th Infantry Division, PA, and is a member of the PMA
“Dimalupig” Class of 1981.
To replace Castro as the new Commander
of 903rd Infantry Brigade, 9th Infantry Division is Col Joselito E.
Kakilala. He is the current Commander of the AFP’s Task Force GenSan
based in General Santos City, and is a member of the PMA “Maharlika”
Class of 1984.
On the other hand, Col. Marcos Norman S. Flores Jr.
will assume as the Commander, 1002nd Infantry Brigade, 10th Infantry
Division, PA replacing Col. Glorioso Miranda. He is the current
Commander of the AFP’s Task Force Davao, and is also a member of the PMA
“Maharlika” Class of 1984.
Yesterday, Col. Vicente M. Yordan
assumed the position as the new Commander of the 55th Engineer Brigade,
PA replacing Brig. Gen. Michaelo T. Salvaleon. Yordan is the former Army
Chief Engineer. He is a member of the PMA “Sandigan” Class of 1982.
“Appointments
in key-positions in the AFP are very important in coping with the
dynamics of our organization. We are confident that the newly appointed
senior officers will be able to infuse new vigor and bring fresh ideas
to their respective offices for the advancement of the AFP as a
transparent and professional military organization,” AFP Chief of Staff,
General Jessie D. Dellosa said.
