Five NPAs Killed in Matnog Encounter
Camp Aguinaldo Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines figured in an encounter with New People’s Army rebels at Sitio Hukdong, Balocawe, Matnog, Sorsogon earlier this morning, May 23.
Combined Army units from the 903rd Infantry Brigade encountered 25 communist rebels belonging to the Probinsyal Yunit Guerilya, Bicol Region Party Committee at around 5:44 a.m.
Five NPA rebels were killed, including a certain Ka Randy, commanding officer of Probinsyal Yunit Guerilya in Sorsogon. Two other NPAs were captured following the encounter. Government troops also recovered five high-powered firearms. Police SOCO and medical personnel are already in the encounter site.
