The Armed Forces of the Philippines categorically denies the militarization of Lumad communities in Mindanao and the alleged attacks on the rights of Indigenous Peoples (IP) camping in the University of the Philippines. These allegations by Bayan Muna Representative Carlos Zarate follows the same rethoric they had in 2015 and covers up the exploitation of the Lumad by left-leaning groups.

Unite the people to resist Duterte’s heightened tyrannical rule

Rodrigo Duterte is obsessed with his strongman ambitions. He is set on establishing himself as a fascist despot.

His resort to tyranical methods has heightened since having unravelled as a camp-follower of the US imperialists. He has become ever more brazen and unapologetic in carrying out repressive policies and measures.

He has escalated the campaign of extrajudicial killings against street peddlers and users of shabu. He expresses satisfaction over news that more than a hundred have been killed by his police in three days. He has publicly applauded the murderous rampage of his police force and has repeated his vow to save them from punishment, stoking greater public indignation after police were caught on camera manhandling a 17-year old boy prior to his fatal shooting. There is widespread clamor for justice for all the victims of Duterte’s anti-people “war against drugs.”

This escalation of police killings comes at the heels of the discovery of a P6.4 billion shipment of shabu from China at a warehouse of the Bureau of Customs. The involvement of Duterte scion Paolo and his Davao gang of businessmen cum drug smugglers has also been exposed. Duterte has defended his appointee at the BOC despite (or perhaps because of) the drug smuggling.

MILF criticizes former President Arroyo’s Bangsamoro bill, considers it as ‘foolish’

An online report posted today (Aug. 25) by the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) says that the Moro Islamic Liberation front (MILF) have criticized the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) proposed by former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and considered it as ‘foolish’.

It was “disgusting in all aspects” and ran counter to the “spirit” of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), the MILF also said as quoted by PDI.

Walang kahihiyang inako niya ang kainutilan ng kanyang rehimen na sugpuin ang droga matapos ang mala-trapong pulitikong pag-aastang lilipulin ang problema sa droga sa unang tatlong buwan niya, sa anim na buwan at hanggang ngayon. BBL now in Congress

The proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) has already been transmitted to the office of Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III last August 14 with a copy of it furnished to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

In a one-page letter bearing same date signed by Undersecretary Atty. Ryan Estevez of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), it was stated that “we trust in the collective wisdom of both houses of Congress should they deem proper to refine the draft in the course of the regular legislative mill.”

Awang, DOS, Maguindanao - The 6th Field Artillery (Deadly Accurate) Battalion (6FAB), Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) joined the Notre Dame University Graduate School and the Local Government of Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS), Maguindanao in providing education and awareness to the Indigenous Peoples (Teduray Tribe) about Maternal, Neonate and Child Health and Nutrition, Family Planning and Responsible Parenthood last August 5, 2017 at the Labungan Elementary School of the aforementioned municipality. 

The lectures and demonstrations attended by 100 IP adults were facilitated by 15 students of the Master of Arts in Nursing with the supervision of Dr Theresa O Corcoro, the Dean of the Graduate School along with the members of the NDU Graduate School Council led by Mr Israel U Sinsuat,

House to convene into a Constituent Assembly with the Senate to perform minor surgery on the Constitution to pass BBL

The House of Representatives is prepared to convene into a constituent assembly with the Senate to perform minor surgery on the Constitution to pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), said an online post by News5 Interaksyon on August 8.

The legislators also agreed to pass a bill postponing the October 2017 barangay elections to May 2018 and retain incumbent officials on holdover capacity.
