FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The
Philippine Army through the 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion, 1st
Infantry “Tabak” Division launched the solar energy project in
partnership with the Tarlac Heritage Foundation and the Turkish
Cooperation and Coordination Agency in the island Barangay of Ticala,
San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur today, August 11, 2018.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army,
Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito D. Bautista led the inauguration along with
Maj. Gen. Roseller G. Murillo, Commander of 1st Infantry Division, Col Bagnus P. Gaerlan Jr., Commander of 102nd Infantry
Brigade, Dra. Isa Cojuangco Suntay, Co-Founder of Tarlac Heritage
Foundation and Mr. Yesim Baktir, Director of Turkish Cooperation and
Coordination Agency.
The Army soldiers aided the community in
the installation of solar power kit for each household. The solar panel
set-up is a joint venture with the “A solar power kit” to support the
government initiatives in providing access to off-grid electrification.
The system is composed of solar panel, inverter and storage battery
capable to power three to six Light- Emitting Diode (LED) lamps good to
light-up one household and repower cellular phones.
In partnership with the Philippine Army,
Tarlac Heritage Foundation has long-been instrumental in numerous peace
building initiatives. Noteworthy is the construction of houses equipped
with solar panel intended for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
dubbed as “Bahay Pag-asa” project in Brgy. Pisaan, Marawi City.
“I am very optimistic that few years
from now, this country will have professionals like, soldiers, doctors,
teacher’s, architects and police officers who are from Brgy. Ticala,”
said Dra. Isabel Suntay.
Lt. Gen. Bautista on the other hand said
that, “the Philippine Army shall at all times will serve as steward of
peace and comitted to uplift the people’s welfare. We will continue to
build better relation with the local populace to “bring the power and
light of hope for the Filipinos.”
“We work with passion and benevolent
heart with our stakeholders, together our professionalism will help us
achieve our goal to become a well-respected Army in Asia,” Lt. Gen.
Bautista added.#
