CGPA visits Jungle Fighter troopers
FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The
Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto
visited the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division (2ID) today, Tuesday,
November 20, 2018.
The 2ID’s headquarters is located in
Camp Mateo Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal which primary mission is to conduct
sustained Internal Security Operations in order to maintain peace and
security in CALABARZON and MIMAROPA Regions as its assigned area of
responsibility.
For Lt. Gen. Alberto, his visit to 2ID
is like a homecoming for once, he served the famous Division when he was
still a young officer. During his remarks, he said that he is proud and
happy to be back to the “Home of the Jungle Fighters” where he started
his military career and helped him transformed of what he is today.
His visit and acquaintance with the
troops was capped by an information brief about the Command significant
activities as well as accomplishments in terms of how it manages and
orchestrates its campaign in support to the government’s thrust of
establishing an environment conducive for peace and development.
The 2ID has a lot of success recently in
its campaign against peace spoilers, particularly, the New People’s
Army in its assigned area of responsibility. The latest is the surrender
of 2 communist insurgents that lead to the discovery of an NPA arms
cache in Mindoro this November, which gives a huge blow to the enemies.
During his talk to the troops, Lt. Gen.
Alberto expressed his gratitude for their continuing commitment and
sacrifices. He averred that in his capacity, he will continue to
institute the necessary measures to improve systems and processes for
the betterment of the Philippine Army. He also reiterated his command
thrusts and guidance which focuses on the establishment of agile and
responsive force, enhancement of health services, advancement of family
welfare programs and leadership training.
He also highlighted in his speech the
fast tracking of the production and issuance of the new Army Battle
Dress Uniform (BDU). The first tranche has already been distributed to
the different Army units all over the country which indeed provided a
morale boosting effect to the troops. The new BDU has an improved
pattern that enhances the camouflage of the soldiers in the field,
increasing the survivability of the troops.
“As the Philippine Army walks its way
towards becoming a world-class Army by 2028, it will continue to strive
building its capabilities and develop approaches to improve further its
role as a reliable force provider,” Lt. Gen. Alberto, added. #
