MALACAÑAN — President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Thursday, December 20, led the thanksgiving and
Christmas party for prison, police, and coast guard personnel, promising
continuous support from his administration.
In his speech during the event,
President Duterte said that he wants to leave a legacy that will boost
the financial capability of the country’s uniformed personnel through
the lease of government-owned lands.
President Duterte also wants to
establish a bank that will cater to the needs of soldiers and policemen.
He said he expects Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III to submit a
blueprint for such a plan next year.
In greeting the Bureau of Jail
Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine National Police (PNP) , and
Philippone Coast Guard (PCG) personnel and officials, he said, “Let
Christmas inspire you to perform your duties with selflessness and
compassion for the greater good of our nation. I trust that the spirit
of this season will guide you with the hope for a better society.”
“I wish you and your loved ones all the warmth, happiness and peace. Merry Christmas to you all,” he continued.

Prior to attending the BJMP, PNP, and
PCG’s Christmas party, the President attended the Christmas celebration
of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Sergeant Majors,
Wounded-in-Action (WIA) Soldiers, and children from the Western Mindanao
Command (WESMINCOM) at the Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace.
President Duterte personally talked and greeted each WIA soldiers during the shindig.
He thanked the soldiers for their bravery and for being a role model to our fellow countrymen.
The Chief Executive also noted that he
is very proud of the service and sacrifice each uniformed personnel
offered to our country, especially in advancing the administration’s
advocacy in eradicating illegal drugs, countering insurgency, and
extremism. For that, the President said he would continue to support his
soldiers.

Mabuhay ang sundalo kong Pilipino at ang pulis ko. Kaya natin ‘yan.
