Enlightened LGUs behind persona non grata spree vs. Reds

MANILA -- More local government units (LGUs) are getting enlightened against the lies and acts of deception by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA), hence the spate of persona non grata declarations against the communist rebels.

This was the reply of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief, Col. Noel Detoyato when asked to comment on the matter Thursday.

Army Chief leads Special Forces anniversary celebration

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – Army Chief Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto led the celebration of the 57th founding anniversary of the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) at its headquarters in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

The SFR(A) is an elite Army unit with a competency on unconventional warfare operations. The members of the regiment are also highly trained in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism. Among the strengths of the regiment is its effective community relations which helped SFR(A) attain significant accomplishments in combat as well as effect enemy surrender.

Sultan, Kudarat, Maguindanao-- Members of the different joint mechanisms under the Normalization Track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) as well as international independent bodies have begun the preparations for the smooth decommissioning of at least 12,000 combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), their weapons and camps this year, said a report by Philippine News Agency (PNA) on June 24, 2019.

2 human-rights leaders slain in Sorsogon

MANILA, Philippines – Two human-rights leaders from the group Karapatan were shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding men in Sorsogon on Saturday, Bayan Muna representatives said.

Bayan Muna identified the victims as Ryan Hubilla and Nely Bagasala, both are community leaders and volunteers for Bayan Muna party-list when it campaigned for the 2019 May midterm elections.

NICA chief says CPP-NPA wants power, not peace

MANILA – Despite several negotiations with the communist group, peace remains elusive because the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) used the talks as a means to overthrow the government.

“We are not getting what we want which is peace because they do not really want peace, they want power,” National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Director General Alex Paul Monteagudo said in an interview at the Philippine Daily Inquirer office on June 18.

Condemn Duterte’s murderous spree

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) is outraged over the six successive murders in the Bicol region over the past days since June 9. Among those killed are farmers, social activists and human rights workers. The Party holds the Duterte regime, its military and police forces and death squads responsible for these murders.

Coinciding with the killing spree in Bicol, military agents also shot dead a peasant leader in San Fernando, Bukidnon last June 16.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY— President Rodrigo Duterte renewed his offer Thursday to the members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who want to return to the fold of the law saying his government is ready to provide them with shelter, job and livelihood if they lay down their weapons. 

 

Speaking before the recipients of certificates of land ownership awards (CLOAs) in Soccsksargen (Region XII), the President said his dialogue with the communist insurgents is about to end whether they agree with the government or not.

"Whether you agree to it or not, you NPAs (New People's Army), the communists, you are about to end. You don’t have guns, you don’t have bullets, you don’t even have food. All you have are sores and you are being bitten by leeches," he said in the vernacular during his speech at the awarding of certificates of land ownership to agrarian reform beneficiaries in General Santos City.

The Filipino people and their revolutionary forces would applaud any government that carries out genuine land reform, which is well explained by the Revolutionary Guide to Land Reform of the Communist Party of the Philippines and by the NDFP Draft Comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reforms.

But certainly the Duterte regime is not engaged in any genuine land reform by distributing mere pieces of paper to some 13,000 people that require them to pay the unaffordable price for 24,000 hectares in Central Mindanao, even if by installment.

Duterte urges Moros to take advantage of BARMM

MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday urged Moros to exploit their resources and take advantage of the transition from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) to the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as mandated by the ratified Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).

During the Independence Day rites in Lanao del Sur, Duterte reminded the Moros of the ratification of the BOL as part of his commitment to addressing historical injustices against them.
