(OAGAD) welcomes its new Chief here today, November 18, 2020.
Office of the Army Gender and Development
In a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony presided by
Chief of Staff, Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino, incoming
Chief Lt. Col. Lourdes O. Guevarra took over the position from outgoing
Chief Lt. Col. Margie G. Mingoy.
Prior to her new post, Lt. Col. Guevarra has served in
key positions such as in the Office of the Army Internal Auditor and as
Commanding Officer of 15th, 14th, and 5th Finance Service Field Offices,
Finance Center Philippine Army. She graduated from the Officer
Candidate School in 1997, and received her Master of Business
Administration from Jose Rizal University in 2011.
On the other hand, Lt. Col. Mingoy served as the OAGAD
Chief since July 2019. Under her leadership, the office implemented
Gender and Development policies, directives, and programs that nurtured
equal opportunities, valued respect, and encouraged self-improvement of
Army personnel. She also sustained strong partnerships with the
Philippine Commission on Women, non-government organizations, and
people’s organizations relative to the effective and efficient
implementation of programs and advocacies on gender and development. She
graduated from Philippine Military Academy “Banyuhay” Class of 2002,
and will now pursue further studies at the Armed Forces of the
Philippines Command and General Staff College.
“The Philippine Army considers the promotion of gender
equity as a strategic success. Our Organization remains a people-centric
Army with gender-responsive approaches as its foundation,” remarked
Maj. Gen. Tolentino during the ceremony.
“Lt. Col. Mingoy, your accomplishments are indeed worthy
of the Army’s recognition. Thank you for the dedication and hard work,
and good luck on your schooling. And to Lt. Col. Guevarra, I trust that
with your leadership experience and competence, the Philippine Army will
sustain its pursuit of gender equality to ensure the well-being of the
soldiers in support of the Command’s thrusts,” he added. #
