TACLOBAN CITY—The Armed Forces of the Philippines castigated the Communist Party of the Philippines for spreading lies regarding the circumstances that led to the death of two children during a military encounter in Catubig, Northern Samar, on 8 February.

MANILA – Achieving change through peaceful means remains the legacy of the historic Edsa

People Power Revolution, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said on Friday.

"Well, ang Edsa (revolution) kasi is (is all about making changes) through peaceful means. So yun yung maganda doon. Ang isang malaking problema (What is good about Edsa is that an) issue, conflict, na-resolve (was resolved) through peaceful means, if there is unity among us Filipinos," Año said in an interview on the sidelines of the commemoration of the event's 36th anniversary at the Edsa People Power Monument in Quezon City.

General Centino lauds Diamond Division, pledges all-out support vs insurgency 

 

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City-- The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines General Andres C Centino PA lauded the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division for its accomplishments against the communist terrorist group.

In his visit on Wednesday, 02 February 2022, General Centino pressed the troops to finish the insurgency in Northern Mindanao before June 2022.

NorMin troops told to ‘quell’ Reds before end of PRRD's term

MANILA – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief, Gen. Andres Centino, urged all military units in Northern Mindanao to exert all possible efforts in defeating the communist insurgency before President Rodrigo R. Duterte ends his term this June.

"Give your best. We will make sure you have resources. We want to end this insurgency, to capture its top leaders here. More importantly, we want to honor the heroism of our comrades who made the ultimate sacrifices in this decades-old fighting," he said during his visit to the Cagayan De Oro-based 4th Infantry Division on Wednesday.

These resources include the necessary equipment, aside from the enhancement of skills of the soldiers so that they are prepared for the challenges of fighting and neutralizing these threats.
