NPA surrender in Bukidnon, firearms seized in Davao de Oro
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – A member of a dismantled guerrilla unit of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Bukidnon.
A certain Sander Langayed using the alias ‘Anggot’ yielded to the 89th Infantry Battalion at Sitio Inayaman, Brgy San Jose, San Fernando, Bukidnon. He also turned in an M1 Garand rifle, M203 grenade launcher and anti-personnel mine.
Langayed was a member of the NPA’s Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) 5 which was successfully dismantled by the Eastern Mindanao Command on January 13, 2022.
Meanwhile, government troops seized an M16A1 rifle and a Magpul 5.56mm rifle believed to be owned by members of the NPA’s Regional Headquarters, SMRC at Purok Del Pilar, Brgy Coronobe in Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
Also captured were four backpacks and personal belongings following joint security operations conducted by members of the 10th Infantry Division together with police forces.
The location of the war materiel was revealed by former NPA members who previously surrendered to government troops.
The seized firearms and other items were brought to a military camp in Brgy Don Martin Marundan, Mati City, Davao Oriental for proper disposition.///
