AFP installs new Commander of Civil Relations Service

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The AFP installed BGen Arvin R Lagamon PA as the new Commander of the Civil Relations Service, AFP (CRSAFP) replacing the Acting Commander, Col Medel M Aguilar, in a ceremony held on Wednesday, October 26 in Camp Aguinaldo.

The CRSAFP is the primary unit of the AFP that engages the general public through information support activities and community relation programs. The unit also conducts stakeholder engagement with other government agencies and non-government organizations in providing public service to needy communities.

In his acceptance speech, BGen Lagamon expressed his gratitude to the AFP leadership for the trust and confidence that was given to him. “It is an honor for me to be designated as the commander of CRSAFP, at the same time, I am aware of the immense responsibility. “To lead the CRSAFP, especially at a crucial time when the battle of narratives, the battle for the attention of the people in social media, and the protection of our cognitive domain have become very vital not only in the fight against the communist insurgency and violent extremism but also in the preservation of our territorial integrity,” BGen Lagamon added.

A native of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, BGen Lagamon immediately saw action as a Platoon Leader in Mindanao after graduating from the Philippine Military Academy as a member of the Tanglaw-Diwa Class of 1992.

Since then he was assigned to various command and staff positions, which include Commander of the Army Civil-Military Operations Regiment, Commanding Officer of the 63rd Infantry Battalion, and Head Executive Assistant to the Vice Chief of Staff, AFP.

"The AFP eagerly looks forward to your plans and initiatives that shall further advance the capability of CRSAFP and fortify our collaboration with other stakeholders in establishing informative, cohesive, and collaborative partnerships. Taking the helm of this esteemed unit demands a leader that is well-rounded in the various competencies of the AFP” said the Acting AFP Vice Chief of Staff, VAdm Rommel Anthony SD Reyes, who presided over the change of command.///
