CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) celebrated its 88th Anniversary in a culminating program with the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the AFP Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Ferdinand R Marcos Jr as the Guest of Honor and Speaker on December 21 at the Lapu-lapu Grandstand.
The beginning of the anniversary program was marked by a high-speed opener featuring the AFP's two FA-50 fighter aircraft and a parade featuring contingents coming from the AFP's different branches of service.
Recognizing the efforts of the military in "Rising Over Challenges in Service to the Nation," the AFP Commander-in-Chief also led the awarding of Medal for Valor to a fallen soldier, AFP Campaign Streamer awards to units, and recognition to military and civilian personnel who showed exemplary work in the performance of their duties.
"It is my hope that you and the rest of the military force will continue to uphold the AFP's values of Honor, Service and Patriotism. I look forward to more decades of the AFP's excellent and selfless service to the nation," said the AFP Commander-in-Chief as he expressed his confidence to the troops as they continue to defend the country.
With the program ending with the showcase of AFP's newly-acquired assets, the Chief of Staff, AFP, General Romeo S Brawner Jr. PA reaffirmed the AFP's steadfast commitment to protecting the people and securing the state.
"With our oath of service being a solemn commitment, we guarantee that every soldier, airman, sailor and marine will put our people first above all else," said Gen. Brawner Jr.///
