AFP Welcomes New PMA Superintendent, honors outgoing General

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Rear Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia PN as the new Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in a ceremony held on July 20, 2024 in Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City.

Rear Admiral Valencia is a member of the PMA Class 1990 who served as the Philippine Navy Vice Commander in 2022. He was also the Commander of Naval Forces Northern Luzon in 2019 before being appointed Chief of Naval Staff in 2021.

General Romeo S. Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the AFP, presided over the ceremony which also honored the retirement of Lieutenant General Rowen S. Tolentino PA, the outgoing PMA Superintendent.

Lieutenant General Tolentino served as the 84th PMA Superintendent since August 12, 2022. He previously held key positions including the 42nd Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, the 18th Commander of the 703rd Infantry “AGILA” Brigade, Deputy Commander of the Philippine Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, and Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army.

Army rescues QC, Malabon flood victims

Philippine Army rescuers saved persons with disabilities, the elderly as well as mothers and their children who were trapped in Quezon City and Malabon due to heavy rains dumped by Super Typhoon “Carina” and the southwest monsoon (habagat) on July 24 and the morning of July 25, 2024.

The rescue teams from the 525th Engineer "Forerunner" Battalion of the Combat Engineer Regiment, in close cooperation with national government agencies, local government units, and other responders, are continuing to assist residents in areas swamped by heavy rains.

Maysakit na Pulang mandirigma ng BHB-Rizal, dinakip at sadyang pinaslang ng 80th IB

niulat ng National Democratic Front (NDF)-Rizal sa isang pahayag na hindi sa engkwentro napaslang ang Pulang mandirigma na si Kasamang Wally Agudes (Ka KM) noong Hulyo 18. Taliwas ito sa pinalalabas ng 80th IB na napaslang si Ka KM sa Barangay Burgos, Rodriguez, Rizal sa isang armdong labanan.

Ayon sa mga saksi, nakita nilang buhay si Ka KM na nagtangka pang tumakbo mula sa umatakeng mga sundalo. Kasunod nito, narinig pa umano nilang sumigaw si Ka KM na hindi siya lalaban at ang sigaw ng isang sundalo na mayroong pinadadapa.
