BUSC distributes relief assistance for vicims of calamities in Tacloban and Zamboanga

More than 2000 families affected by the sper typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City, Leyte, and almost 3000 displaced victims of the Zamboanga siege recently received relief goods from the HASENE Societal Relief and Welfare Organization, based in Germany, and government institutions through the facilitation of the Basilan Ulama Supreme Council (BUSC).

Ustadz Abdulmuhmin Mujahid, BUSC Vice Chairman and humanitarian relief services focal person, said that relief goods distribtuion was a convergence effort with Basilan Governor  Jum J. Akbar.

He said the provinvial government of Basilan provided relief good that were collected by the various agencies.

The 104th Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army headed by Col Carlito Galvez and the Philippine Air Force helped in the transportation of the relief good from Basilan to Zamboanag City and to Tacloban City.

BUSC President Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason stressed the convergence efforts in extending the relief assistance made a significant impact to both the benefactors and beneficiaries, even as he said "here should be more intensified efforts to help in the rehabiliation and reconstruction efforts to help the fat recovery of the adveresely affected people and localities."

Dr. Tarason likewise expressed thanks to the HASENE organization and the cooperation of the MILF leadership in Basilan for their deep concerns over the Typhoon Yolanda victims in Visayas, the poor victims of the Zamboanga Siege, and the orphanages in Basilan.

He cited the support and cooperation of all the stakeholders such as the TEAM Basilan composed of LGU agencies in Basilan headed by Gov. Akbar, various religious leaders.
