Pope Can Lead Us to Peace

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City— In a few days, the nation will be blessed with the visit of His Holiness, Pope Francis. The 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, Philippine Army joins the Filipino people in welcoming the Vicar of Christ. It is no every day that we get the opportunity to meet or see the Pope. To many Filipinos, it is an experience of a lifetime.

The charismatic spiritual leader, espousing simplicity and love for the poor, has been a source of spiritual strength. His engagement of world leaders and ordinary folks alike, manifest his simplicity, fairness and concern for the common people. Moreover, his message on peace, his advocacy and personal example personifies the love of Christ in all of us.

In his call for world peace in the Papal Apostolic eshortation. Evangelii Gaudium, the Holy Father has expressed sadness as “Our world is being torn apart by wars and violence … which divides people”. Like his predecessors, the 4ID believes on his influential role in world peace. Thus, Pope Francis can lead us toward a nation of peace.

According to Major General Oscar T Lactao AFP, Commander, 4ID, PA, while the Papal visit to the country is indeed to show sympathy and compassion to all those affected in the natural calamities experienced last year, he also believes the Pope’s visit will have a transformational and lasting effect on all Filipinos and stakeholders to work together for peace.
