49 Newly Promoted Generals, Flag Officers Take Oath; First Female Judge Advocate General Swears In

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, General Emmanuel
T. Bautista along with 48 other newly-promoted Generals and Flag
Officers from the military including the AFP’s first female Judge
Advocate General took their oath today, June 10 at the Malacanañ Palace,
Manila.
President and AFP
Commander-in-Chief, Benigno S. Aquino III administered the oath-taking
which took place at the Rizal Hall, Malacañan Palace.
Among
the high-ranking officers who joined General Bautista were three-star
generals Lieutenant General Alan R. Luga, the AFP Vice Chief of Staff,
Vice Admiral Edgar L. Abogado, Philippine Military Academy
Superintendent; Lt. Gen. Rustico O. Guerrero, Commander of Western
Command; Lt. Gen. Roy O. Deveraturda, Commander of Central Command; and
Lt. Gen. Caesar Ronnie T. Ordoyo, Commander of Southern Luzon Command.
Joining
them are Rear Admiral Jaine S. Bernardino, Major General Leo Cresente
M. Ferrer, RAdm. Philip L. Cacayan, Maj. Gen. Benito Antonio T. De Leon,
Maj. Gen. Danilo M. Servando, Maj. Gen. Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr.,
Maj. Gen. Nicanor M. Vivar, RAdm. Jesus C. Millan, RAdm. Leopoldo M.
Alano, Maj. Gen. Richard C. Siga-an, Maj. Gen. CrisologoM. Nayve, Maj.
Gen. Romeo L. Gapuz, and Maj. Gen. John S. Bonafos – all with two-star
ranks.
After
the oath-taking ceremony in Malacañang, the newly promoted Generals and
Flag Officers were given arrival honors at the General Headquarters
canopy area in Camp Aguinaldo and subsequently paid a courtesy call on
the AFP Chief of Staff at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club.
The
newly promoted officers and leaders of the AFP took oath to uphold the
chain of command and set an example to their subordinates of the
importance of maintaining a professional military organization
accountable to the Filipino people that they serve.
