Top Military Doctor Bows Out

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – After serving 30 years in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Commander of the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC), Brigadier General Mariano Mejia will bid farewell to the military profession Friday, March 31 in a ceremony at the AFP Grandstand.

Lieutenant General Mayoralgo Dela Cruz, The Inspector General, AFP will preside over the retirement ceremony and testimonial parade this afternoon in honor of BGen Mejia and his outstanding accomplishments.

“As Commander of the AFP Medical Center, BGen Mejia took on the challenge of bringing the unit into greater heights by ensuring the highest quality of healthcare services to all AFP personnel,” said Colonel Edgard Arevalo, AFP Public Affairs Office Chief.

Colonel Patrick De Leon, the current Deputy for Administration, AFPMC will serve as Acting Commander, AFPMC.

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – “Sundalo Ko, Bayani Ko” program of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) allows army soldiers and their dependents to avail of discounts and privileges on selected shops in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig from 22 March to 30 April 2017. BCDA, Fort Bonifacio Development Center (FBDC), Station Square East Commercial (Market Market), Ayala Malls, and Serendra partnered again with the Philippine Army this year for the “Sundalo ko, Bayani Ko” Project.

Communiqué: Second Congress Communist Party of the Philippines

The Second Congress of the Communist Party of the Philippines was held successfully on the fourth quarter of 2016. It was historically dated October 24 to November 7, 2016 as a way of setting off the celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the victory of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.

The historic significance of the Second Congress of the Party is indubitable. For the first time in nearly five decades, key leaders and cadres representing the Party’s close to seventy thousand members, were assembled to strengthen the Party’s unity, amend its program and constitution based on accumulated victories and lessons and elect a new set of leaders.

CAMP AGUINALDO, QUEZON CITY – The AFP Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) received Php100,000.00 from UNTV Cup Season 5 on Tuesday, 14 March 2017 at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City.

BGEN ARNEL M DUCO AFP, received the symbolic check during the UNTV Cup Season 5 Finals. He was accompanied by AFPEBSO Chief/General Manager, CDR DWIGHT STEVEN M DULNOAN, other staff and AFP scholars. 

The AFP Cavaliers Basketball Team donated their winnings to help scholars of the AFPEBSO finish their education.

NPA seizes 15 firearms in Kidapawan PNP scalawag raid New People’s Army
Regional Operations Command
Southern Mindanao Region

Without firing a single shot Red commanders and fighters of New People’s Army’s Mt. Apo Sub-Regional Command swiftly carried out a raid seizing 15 firearms on an arms cache of a PNP scalawag at around 1:00 in the afternoon in Brgy. Mateo, Kidapawan City, March 15, 2017. The NPA’s daring disarming operation was conducted in close proximity to the command headquarters of the Philippine Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion and several minutes away from the city police headquarters.


Seized from the house of PNP/CIDG confidential agent Reynaldo V. Dinampo were four M4 Bushmaster rifles, 2 M14 rifles, 1 Ultimax light machine gun, 2 M203 grenade launchers, 1 shotgun, 1 KG9 sub-machine gun, and 4 calibre .45 pistols, assorted ammunitions and magazines and various other military hardware.

PNP on highest alert after Duterte declared all-out war vs NPA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) maintained its full alert as President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the police and military to use all assets of the government to decimate the New People’s Army (NPA).

Members of the NPA, armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), were allegedly behind the killing of four police investigators during an ambush in Bansalan town, Davao del Sur last Wednesday.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año congratulates 32nd Infantry Battalion Commander LtCol Ramon Flores in an awarding ceremony held at the JTF Sulu Headquarters in Jolo, Sulu 7 March 2017. LtCol Flores was awarded a Gold Cross Medal for leading his troops in an encounter with the Abu Sayyaf Group in Panamao, Sulu on 31 January 2017 that resulted to the death of 12 and wounding of five terrorists under ASG sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya. Both sides agreed to hold secret backchannel talks as early as the first week of February. For some reason, these have been delayed till now. In this regard, we have kept our end of the bargain not to reveal the plans or issue any statement that would upset these. 
 The objective of the backchannel is to bring about the continuation of the talks in order to hold the scheduled fourth round in April to discuss important matters, including JASIG, CASER and CAPCR. The release of the POWs has been approved in a statement by the revolutionary leadership on 27 February. Discussions have been going on since between third party peace facilitators and the GRP Panel.

The POWs should have been released as early as 2 March but arrangements on their safe and orderly release, as well as those of the third party peace facilitators, local government officials, ICRC representatives and the custodial forces, have still to be worked out.

New BTC members urged to be united

The members of the expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) were urged to be “united in purpose and direction” as it began its work of drafting the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
On Monday, new BTC Chairman Ghazali Jaafar told the other 20 commissioners that he considers them as “brothers and sisters in a common struggle” even if they may be coming from the sides of the MILF or GPH.
