CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City –
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Eduardo
Año, and the top brass of the AFP joined Department of National Defense
Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and the Commander-in-Chief President Rodrigo
Duterte during the latter's visit to Bohol, Wednesday, 19 April 2017 at
the Philippine Ports Authority Office in Tagbilaran City.
The Chief Executive presided over a
security briefing given by Commander, Central Command LTGen Oscar Lactao
with members of the Cabinet, local government leaders of the Province
of Bohol, military, and police commanders in the joint area of
operations in attendance.
The briefing centered on the chronology
of events and how the security forces were able to detect the movement
of the terrorists and all other information pieced together.
He highlighted how the local residents,
local government officials, the military, and the police acted and aided
one another that lead to the successful assault that killed Muamar
Askali alias Abu Rami and 5 of his cohorts.
LTGen Lactao informed the Commander in
Chief about the current state of operations to neutralize to seven
remaining "strugglers". The Briefer expressed confidence that they will
soon be able to neutralize the remnants who are short of food, firearms,
ammunition, and mass base support.
The President offered a bounty to anyone who can give information leading to the neutralization of the remaining ASG terrorists.
A Million Peso bounty per head "no
questions asked. Just the word from the military or police to whom the
information was given and an arrest--dead or alive-- was had," says
President Duterte.
Bohol Governor Edgar Chato expressed
elation and gratitude, on behalf of his Province mates, for the support
from President Duterte. He says the physical presence of the President
surely boosts the Boholanos as it is reassuring.
He feels the bounty will be of great help to flush out the remaining terrorists on the run.
"That will facilitate the arrest or
surrender of the remaining terrorists who are now still in Inabanga and
in hiding trying to evade security forces hunting them," says General
Año of the reward.
"This time, this loathsome band of
criminals will not just be hounded by sniffing dogs of the AFP but also
by the local residents who will be a million peso or more richer by
merely providing information leading to the neutralization of the
former.
"No need to provide anything but
information. Just information that led to the arrest of the
terrorists--dead or alive," declares the AFP Chief.
Among the AFP delegation were LtGen
Glorioso Miranda, Philippine Army Commanding General; Vice Admiral
Ronald Joseph Mercado, Philippine Navy Flag Officer-in-Command; MGen
Conrado Parra Jr, Philippine Air Force Vice Commander; MGen Noel
Clement, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations; MGen Melquiades
Feliciano, Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations; and BGen
Bonifacio Cebrian Jr, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence.
