The 120th Philippine Army anniversary is celebrated every 22nd of March but this year’s parade and review was moved to this day to accommodate the availability of all stakeholders.
Secretary of National Defense Delfin C. Lorenzana, the AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo M. Año, and the Army commander, Lt. Gen. Glorioso V. Miranda, will join the President during the ceremony.
Troops from the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, Special Operations Command, Army Reserve Command, 51st Engineering Brigade, a company-size all female contingent, and an Army K9 unit will compose the parading troops who will showcase the Army’s various capabilities.
The Army will also showcase its wheeled- and tracked-armored vehicles, Army ambulances, and Army engineering and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) equipment.
The parade will also include an HADR and an Army Transformation Roadmap floats.
The Philippine Army will also give awards to 23 individuals who rendered outstanding public service were honored and given recognition (see attached list of awardees with citations).
Three local government units and a non-government organization will also receive recognitions for their support to the Army’s peace building efforts and development support activities.
Aside from the parade and review, the Army conducted various activities during its month-long celebration of its founding anniversary last month which include the Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI), Static Display and Information Caravan in Bonifacio Global City, 10th Senior Leaders Conference, Commemoration of the Tejeros Convention, and the Army Day Field Celebration in Bicol and Zamboanga.
The Philippine Army was founded in March 22, 1897 through the Tejeros convention. The Army currently has 85,000 strong men and women dedicated to serve the people and secure the land. #
