Bangsamoro Young Educator receives International Education Awards

COTABATO CITY – Arsalan A. Diamaoden, a Meranaw Muslim from Butig, Lanao del Sur was awarded as Outstanding Dean by International Education Summit and Awards (IESA) 2020 at Divalux Resort, Bangkok on February 22, 2020. IESA has been recognizing eminent educators around the world for their commendable contributions to the education community.

The theme for this year’s summit is: “Quality Education in the Contemporary World Scenario—The Way Forward”.

The event was in collaboration with International Centre for Excellence in Education (INCEED) and Society for Perpetuation of Art, Culture and Education (SPACE).

The awarding ceremony is a day to remember for more than two hundred fifty individuals who received their respective distinguish award.

It was attended and participated by more than twenty countries across the world such as, India, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Nepal, USA,  Philippines , and Thailand—the host country, to name a few.

Participants enjoyed the number of lectures from the internationally acclaimed speakers such as Prof. Armoogum Parsuramen, Dr. Kuldeep Agarwal, Dr. Hayle Watson of USA, Mrs. Anita Devraj, Prof. M.K. Das, and Dr. Mohan Menon. They gave their outlooks on what quality means in the contemporary world and how it could be provided by outstanding institutions and individual professionals.

Prof. Diamaoden was indeed inspired by the words of Dr. Kuldeep Aggarwal, Former Director on academic and vocational at NIOS.

“We educators should adapt the concept of UNESCO that education is at the heart of both personal and community development,” said Dr. Aggarwal.

“It’s mission is to enable us without exception to develop all our talents to the full and to realize our creative potential including responsibility for our own lives and achievement of our personal living,” he continued.

From the gained insights about “quality”, Prof. Diamaoden conceived that quality education is about equipping the school administrators, teachers and other stakeholders to be quality so they  could deliver excellent methods, approaches and systems required for the attainment of quality education.

Prof. Diamaoden served as the Dean of Al-Bangsamoro Shariah and Professional Education College, a private college situated in Marawi City, from year 2017 to 2019. During that short period of time, he made real difference in the college.

He promoted innovate approaches in teaching, tapped the multiple intelligences of the students by creating different student clubs that would serve as an avenue to further nurture each type of intelligence, and truly touched students’ lives for the incomparable dedications he had shown them.
Prof. Diamaoden’s commitment goes even beyond the formal education. He volunteered in the feeding programs sponsored by government and non-government organizations. Moreover, he initiated fund raising project and charity for the school supplies of orphan students in one Madrasa or Islamic school in his hometown Butig.

Butig which Prof. Diamoden birth place was previously affected by conflict.

Now a Provincial Officer of Ministry of Indigenous Affairs in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Prof. Diamaoden continues to believe that education is the backbone of any nation and that a school is a place that inherits the good values and implants the seed of knowledge among future leaders of the society—the students.

“Hence, administrators, teachers and students need to get together and co-operate to achieve its ultimate goal and to keep up with the pace in this age of artificial intelligence,” he elaborated.
