NPAs could get COVID-19 vaccine shot, says President Duterte

Communist insurgents fighting the government can avail of the government’s free mass immunization against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as long as they temporary halt their offensive against the military and the police, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said on Friday.

As different countries rush to develop a vaccine against COVID-19, President Duterte said the country will be “back to normal” by December. China, he said, has promised to prioritize the Philippines for the supply of vaccine against the coronavirus.

Army launches Molecular Laboratory

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) led the opening of the Philippine Army Molecular Laboratory here today, July 28, 2020.

In a Ribbon-Cutting and Blessing Ceremony, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay launched the said facility that will provide quality and accurate health care services related to emerging infectious diseases to Army personnel, military dependents, civilian human resource, and other authorized civilians in the Army. Also in attendance was Assistant Secretary Nestor Santiago of the Department of Health (DOH). The facility, which will cater mostly to COVID-19 testing, is currently awaiting accreditation from the DOH in a few weeks.

Vice President Robredo’s proposals are way more progressive

The assessment and proposals laid out yesterday by Vice President Leni Robredo are way more progressive than the inept and police-centric response of the Duterte regime to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is a good thing that the vice president laid out the proposals which give the Filipino people a clearer idea of what should be done by the government to manage the pandemic.

NDF negotiating panel chair Fidel Agcaoili, 75, dies

MANILA – Fidel Agcaoili, the chairperson of the National Democratic Front’s (NDF) peace negotiating panel, passed away on Thursday.

Agcaoili, 75, succumbed to pulmonary arterial rapture, the NDF said in a statement posted on the Facebook account of the self-exiled Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison.

Agcaoili died on Thursday afternoon in Utrecht, The Netherlands where he was exiled.

“According to the doctor, the cause of his death was pulmonary arterial rupture which caused massive internal bleeding. It was not Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) related,” the NDF said.

Agcaoili was supposed to turn 76 on August 8, the NDF said.

The NDF added that Agcaoili’s remains will be flown to the Philippines following the wishes of his family.

Army continues LSI assistance amid COVID-19

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army continues its efforts in assisting and accommodating locally stranded individuals (LSI) at the Philippine Army Wellness Center (PAWC).

Prior to accommodation, each LSI undergoes profiling to assess their pre-existing medical conditions and cultural background. Those who have their non-refunded airline tickets were assessed to identify their destination and their mode of transportation before rapid testing. Individuals who tested positive were transported to different medical facilities such as World Trade Center and Philippine International Convention Center. Stranded individuals residing within National Capital Region were immediately accompanied to their places of residence by Army personnel.

As Founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and Chief Political Consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and on behalf of my family, I express the deepest grief over the unexpected demise of Ka Fidel Agcaoili and convey sincerest condolences to his widow and children, all his comrades, relatives and friends.

Ka Fidel has been my close comrade since the early 1960s when he joined the Student Cultural Association of the University of the Philippines, the Kabataang Makabayan and the Communist Party of the Philippines. We advanced together in our development ideologically, politically and organizationally in pursuit of the people’s democratic revolution in the context of the world proletarian revolution.

AFP welcomes BRP Jose Rizal into the service

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) commissions the newly delivered brand new, four-dimensional warfare-capable frigate, BRP Jose Rizal (FF 150) into the service with the Philippine Navy. The AFP Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos Jr joins the Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana in commissioning the ceremony of FF 150 at the Alava Wharf, Subic Bay Zambales on July 10.

To formally transfer the ownership of FF 150 to the Philippines, the brand new frigate’s documents and certificates were received by Secretary Lorenzana from Mr Bokyeung Kang, Project Manager of the South Korean ship building company, Hyundai Heavy Industries.

APMC to resume recruitment activities for Army aspirants nationwide

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has lifted the temporary suspension of Officers and Enlisted Personnel recruitment. In line with this, the Army Recruitment Offices of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao under the Army Personnel Management Center (APMC), Philippine Army will now resume its recruitment activities for aspiring Army applicants after being suspended due to the declaration of State of Public Health Emergency following the adverse effects of COVID-19 this year.
