Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr. delivers a special lecture during the Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at the Honor Hall of the National Defense College of the Philippines, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Army welcomes new batch of specialized troops

Brig. Gen. William N. Gonzales, Commander of the FSSR officiated the recognition of the new batch of graduates who have finished the elite courses which was highlighted by the distribution of awards and recognitions. Significantly, the pinning of the Scout Ranger and Scout Sniper Badges to the graduates was led by the Chief, PNP, Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, who was invited as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He was accompanied and assisted by the Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto.

A total of 146 personnel coming from the different Army units including one from the Philippine Air Force and 16 from the Philippine National Police finished the Scout Ranger Course. While for the Scout Sniper, 21 have successfully hurdle the course.

Highest honors to Comrade Jose Ma. Sison

The Second Congress of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) extends its profound appreciation and expresses deepest gratitude to Comrade Jose Ma. Sison for his immense contribution to the Philippine revolution as founding chair of the Party, founder of the New People’s Army and pioneer of the People’s Democratic Government in the Philippines.

Ka Joma is a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist extraordinaire and indefatigable revolutionary fighter. He applied dialectical and historical materialism to expose the fundamental nature of the semicolonial and semifeudal social system in the Philippines. He put forward an incisive class analysis that laid bare the moribund, exploitative and oppressive rule of the big bourgeois compradors and big landlords in collusion with the US imperialists.

He set forth the program for a people’s democratic revolution as immediate preparation for the socialist revolution. He always sets sights on the ultimate goal of communism.

Muslims, Christians form barricade to secure Mass in Basilan

Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao— After the tragic bombings in Jolo Church and a mosque in Zamboanga City, Young Moro and Christian professionals on Sunday joined hands, and formed a barricade to secure mass being celebrated in Santa Isabel Cathedral in Basilan City.

Abou Mohammad Asmawil, the Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Basilan told the Mindanao Inquirer that they agreed with other young Moro professionals to come up with own advocacies to assure Christians that they were against violence.
