AFP identifies 20 killed in crashed C-130, victims to receive financial assistance

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday positively identified another cadaver from the crashed C-130 aircraft making the total count of recognized bodies to 20.

The body was of Airman First Class Fortunate Regidor of the Philippine Air Force which is now being prepared for air transport.

Army condemns rebels’ barbaric use of APMs

MANILA – Describing it as barbaric and desperate, the Philippine Army (PA) condemned “at the highest level” the terrorist Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) for its continuous use of anti-personnel mines (APMs), especially its recent attack in Jipapad, Eastern Samar that left three persons dead and scores wounded.

“The continuous use by members of the terrorist NPAs of anti-personnel mines that have been banned since 1997 is a blatant violation of International Humanitarian Laws (IHL) and displays the true nature of the CPP-NPA-NDF -- lawless terrorists and cowards who attack unarmed soldiers and off-duty Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) active auxiliaries doing non-combat duties,” Maj. Gen. Pio Diñoso III, 8th Infantry Division commander, said in a statement on Thursday.

NPA tactical offensive in Samar is a legitimate act of war

We are still awaiting a detailed report about the tactical offensive mounted by the New People’s Army (NPA) last Wednesday in Jipapad, Eastern Samar. Based on news reports, however, it is clear that the action was a legitimate act of war against military targets.

The military and paramilitary forces who were ambushed by the NPA were fully armed and ready to engage in battle. According to the AFP’s spot report, their forces engaged the NPA unit in a 20-minute gun battle where they suffered several casualties.

OPAPP, TESD-Tawi-Tawi conduct orientation on skills training to MILF decommissioned combatants

BONGAO TAWI-TAWI. July 5. 2021.  The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD-MBHTE) conducted an orientation to Decommissioned MILF Combatants, Saturday, July 3 at Tawi-Tawi School of Arts and Trade covered court, Bongao, this province. 

 

Participants were 143 former MILF Combatants of Tawi-Tawi who were part of the second phase of decommissioning program on March 2020 at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
