Duterte meets young ASG kidnapped victim in Malacañan, 01 March 2017

An eight-year old kidnapped victim from Zamboanga Sibugay was reunited with his parents in the presence of President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañan on Tuesday, February 28, following seven months of captivity from the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Sulu.

Presidential peace adviser Jesus Dureza presented the child to President Duterte. He was abducted with his family in Zamboanga Sibugay in August last year and was freed last Monday, February 27.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – "Barely three weeks since the Government waged an 'All-Out War' against terrorist New People’s Army (NPA), 51 of their members surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)", reports AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo said Sunday, February 26.

"And the exodus is expected to continue with numerous others sending their surrender fillers to the AFP.

Red fighters fought it out against the intensified combat operations of the AFP in several areas in Southern Mindanao, inflicting a total of 20 fatalities from the enemy troops in its armed engagements over the weekend. This as, NPA units in the region launched daily tactical offensives and effectively thwarted attack operations by AFP troops in Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao City, and North Cotabato.
