CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - In his first week as the new Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. visited today the headquarters of the Philippine Army in Taguig, Philippine Air Force in Pasay, and Philippine Navy in Roxas Blvd.,Manila to remind his troops to remain one united armed forces.

LtGen Catapang started his visit of military camps and 'talk to men' Monday, just days after his assumption as the 45th AFP chief.

During his visits he reminded the troops of the AFP's overall goals in line with its internal security campaign to "claim the peace, progress, and prosperity that our country needs in order to achieve further development."

LtGen Catapang also said that they should remain non-partisan and must continue to work in the service of the people amidst issues surrounding the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

"Let us continue to work together, no unnecessary business for we are all being taken good care of by our commander-in-chief," he said.

"There's a new war that we are about to face now that we are slowly addressing insurgency and that is the globalized challenges of the 21st century which include global terrorism, global climate change, global maritime concern, global transnational crimes, and proliferation of weapons of mass destructions," he said.

Prior to his visit to the major services, LtGen Catapang toured Northern Luzon Command in Tarlac where he served as Commander, and the 1st Air Division in Clark. He is also expected to visit AFP unified command headquarters in the coming days.
