2ID troops encounter NPAs, recover high-powered firearms from rebels
The troops of 1st Infantry (Always First) Battalion, 2ID encountered
more or less thirty (30) members of the New People’s Army (NPA) this
morning at Brgy Pagsangahan, General Nakar Quezon.
The fire fight started at 10 a.m. and resulted to the recovery of one (1) AK-47 Assault Rifle with four (4) magazines, one (1) M16 Rifle, one (1) M1 Garand Rifle, three (3) homemade Shotguns, one (1) Motorola Handheld Radio, and three (3) backpacks containing personal belongings and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
As per intelligence reports, three (3) among the said rebels are believed to be members of SRGU, SRMA-GU1 were wounded in action.
Said successful operation is due to the intensified stakeholders’ engagement of the Jungle Fighters as well as the active participation and support of Local Government Officials and residents in the area towards the advocacy of 2ID in sustaining peace and development within its area of responsibility.
Presently, the 2ID troops are continuously conducting pursuit operations in order to track down the said rebels.
