73rd IB Troopers Encounters a new Communist Terrorists
Malita, Davao Occidental – Elements of 73rd IB
figured in an encounter against more or less 30 Communist Terrorists
of the NPA GF71 FSMR under @Yoyong at Sitio Busao, Brgy Mangulibas,
Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental on May 4, 2015 around 12:30 in the
afternoon.
Acting on the information from the complainant of residents of Brgy Mangulibas, 2nd Platoon under 2LT GERRY R MABORRANG responded to check the presence of the lawless armed group who are having extortion activities at Sitio Busao, Brgy Mangulibas, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental. While approaching, the troops were fired upon prompting the troops to fire back. There were no reported casualties on the government side, but heavy blood stains in the encounter site were discovered that implies casualties on the enemy side. Firefight lasted for about 30 minutes. The exchange of fires resulted to the recovery of one (1) M16 rifle, one (1) Rifle Grenade and one (1) M16 Magazine.
In his statement LTC RONNIE B BABAC, the Battalion Commander of 73IB said that the residents of Brgy Mangulibas are already fed up of the extortion activities and continuous pestering of resident in 73IB area of responsibility in their . Moreover, LTC BABAC added that 73rd Infantry (Neutralizer) Battalion is sincere in its offer of peace to NPA members. He will ensure the personal safety of those who will choose to lay down their arms and peacefully return to their families – 73IB.
