Major General Vinluan and Brigadier General Gonzales assume key positions in Western Mindanao
MGen Corleto Vinluan assumes as the acting commander of the Western Mindanao Command replacing Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana who assumed as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army recently.
On the other hand, Brigadier General William Gonzales assumes as the acting Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu.
Both generals are seasoned military commanders whose leadership abilities borne of acquired education and training, wealth of experiences, and exposure to combat operations are remarkable.
Major General Vinluan, the concurrent Commander of the 11th Infantry Division spearheaded significant combat operations that led to the neutralization of several ASG members and foreign terrorists operating in the hinterlands of Sulu. Foremost among them are the Egyptian suicide bombers who were killed when they were about to execute a planned suicide bombing in Metro Jolo.
Brigadier General Gonzales, the concurrent commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment is a graduate of both Scout Ranger Training School in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija and the US Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. He is also set to replace Major General Vinluan as the Commander of 11th Infantry Division.
