6 Soldiers wounded in Davao del Sur clash
NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - Six soldiers were wounded in a landmine
during a firefight with the extortion unit of the NPA in Sitio Lutangan,
Brgy Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur 2:40 pm., February 10.
Civilian reports pointed to Alias
Rangrang as leader of the extortion unit of the Southern Mindanao
Regional Committee of the CPP/NPA/NDF operating in Davao del Sur areas.
It can be recalled that on
January 29, 2014, 4 NPA members who were on extortion activities in
Sitio Matabang, Brgy. Taocanga, Manay, Davao Oriental were killed in an
encounter with government troops. The soldiers recovered 2 M16; 1 AK47; 1
M4 rifles, 3 landmines, a cellphone and subversive documents from the
NPA.
EASTMINCOM Commander Lt. Gen.
Ricardo Rainier G Cruz III directed military field commanders in the
area to be extra vigilant in their campaign to win the peace.
The use of landmine is a violation
of the provisions of the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human
Rights and International Humanitarian law (CARHRIHL).
