KUTA SANG-AN –
With the desire to improve the lives of the people through the
construction of circumferential road, the elements of 3rd Scout Ranger
Battalion, JSOU2 and 18th Infantry Battalion encountered more or less 60
Abu Sayyaf and lawless elements in a series of firefight at Tipo-tipo,
Basilan Province around 2:25 and 7:45 in the morning of April 11, 2014.
Based on the reports from ground units,
the group of Abu Sayaff Group under Furiji Indama threatened and
demanded extortion money on the ongoing construction of Magcawa-Albarka.
At about 2:25 in the morning, elements of 3SRB and JSOU2 encountered
Abu Sayyaf Group under FURIJI INDAMA at So. Pansul, Brgy Silungkom,
Tipo-Tipo, Basilan firefight lasted for about 45 minutes. At about 7:45
in the morning, elements of 18IB led by Lt Col CJ Paolo P Perez with
2LT Aaron Jake B Bungag while occupying blocking position at Brgy.
Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo, BP encountered more or less 60 Abu Sayaff Group
and LLEs under Basir Kaguran and Nurhassan Jamiri. Firefight is still on
going.
More troops and closed air support have
been dispatched by BGen Carlito G Galvez, Commander 104th Brigade to
pursue the ASG and to pave the way for the normalization of the area.
