Congressman, Guv attends 1st Convergence in Moises Padilla

Advanced Command Post, 303rd Brigade - Lead representatives from the Government and Non-Government Organizations attend the first convergence at San Quintin Remo, a far-flung barangay of Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental for the Marching for Peace, Serving the Countryside with the theme “Nagabinuligay Para Sa Katawhayan, Padulong sa Kauswagan sang Tanan”.

This activity is spearheaded by the Provincial Peace Integration and Development Unit (Pro-PIDU) under Ms. Ma. Lina P Sanogal as the Action Officer. Activities included were Medical Mission, Dental, Circumcision, Hair Cut, Gift-giving, Capability Demonstration and Entertainment for the local populace.

Ms. Editha Tagon from the Kasanag Foundation, a non-government organization expressed her belief with regards to freedom and peace; she said “that peace and freedom is not given nor asked, it something we should work hard for”.

Hon. Ella Celestina Yulo, Town Mayor thanked the Philippine National Police headed by P/Insp. Milko D. Lirazan and the 303rd Infantry Brigade headed by Col. Jon N. Aying for the security and support and most importantly for bringing the various agencies to cater and assess their needs to improve their present condition.

Gov. Alfredo G. Maranon Jr. pointed out that hunger should not be a problem in their town as we have vast resources of water and land; it’s just a matter how we utilize it. Maranon also reiterated the Provincial Government’s 11-Point Program that aims to uplift the condition of the communities and that no Negrense will be left behind.

Furthermore, Maranon urged the members of the New People’s Army (NPA) to go back to the fold of the law and help one another.

Cong. Alejandro “Bebot” Y. Mirasol of the 5th District of Negros Occidental said in his speech that this kind of activity is a laudable one for the Army towards peace. Mirasol further said he is looking forward for another invitation of this Marching and Serving activity.

Other agencies such as the Department of Education (DEPED), Department of Agriculture (DAR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Unit – Moises Padilla, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Veterinary Office (PHO), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Technical Livelihood and Development Center (TLDC), Provincial Information Office (PIO), Alter Trade Foundation Inc. (ATFI), Arts Association of Bacolod (AAB), Katilingban sang Naghiliusa (Kasanag) Inc., Lion’s Club Bantay Bata 163, religious organizations and various media outlets from TV, radio and print were also present during the activity and are called the “Bayanihan Group”.

The marching group consisted of the Philippine National Police units such as the 6th Special Action Forces (SAF), 6th Regional Public and Safety Battalion and the Philippine Army’s 303rd Brigade, 11th Infantry Battalion, 62nd Infantry battalion, 47th Infantry Battalion, 20th Infantry battalion, 33rd CMO Coy and the Civilian Active Auxilliary (CAA) of the 5th District.

After the programme proper, a community consultation took place with the barangay leaders and representatives from the Provincial Government and Local Government Unit of Moises Padilla to discuss further developmental projects for the said barangay. The activity ended with a live band by the 303rd Infantry Brigade.
