Four NPAs surrender after realizing CPP/NPA/NDF deception in Davao Occidental
NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – Another four (4) NPA members
surrendered to the soldiers of the 73rd Infantry Battalion (73IB),
10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in Malita, Davao Occidental on
July 04, 2015 after realizing that they were deceived by the
CPP/NPA/NDF leaders during recruitment.
The surrenderees are alias Richard, 20; alias Ben, 28; alias Joker, 23; and alias Pikoy, 21. They all belong to B'laan tribe from Brgy Little Baguio, Malita, Davao Occidental and were members of Front 71 of the CPP/NPA.
As of this year, there are 42 NPA members who have surrendered to the soldiers of 73IB since January 1, 2015. Majority of the surrenderees complained about the failed promises of those who recruited them. They were made to believe that their families will be given financial support once they join the movement.
73IB Comander Lt. Col. Ronnie Babac said that the four surrenderees will receive livelihood assistance and other benefits under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) of the LGU of Malita, Davao Occidental.
Eastern Mindanao Command Commander Lt. Gen. Aurelio B. Baladad commended the 60IB Commander Lt. Col. Ronnie Babac for facilitating the safe surrender of NPA members in Davao Occidental and in Sarangani provinces. He also commended the concerned LGUs for providing immediate assistance to the NPA returnees.
"We are always ready to welcome new NPA members, we are happy helping them return to the folds of the law safely", Lt. Gen. Baladad said.
