Bongbong, Enrile responsible for non-passage of BBL: PNoy

In his message delivered during the 30th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution at the People Power Monument yesterday, President Benigno C.Aquino III or PNoy blamed Senators Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile for the non-passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) that aims to end violence and bring peace and development in Mindanao.
Disappointed over the shelving of the proposed Bangsamoro law, PNoy said that it was Senators Marcos and Enrile who made the passage of the BBL difficult and impossible during his term.

“When I think about how far we had gone in terms of the peace process, we already have the Framework Agreement at Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and the only thing missing is the BBL. I am really dismayed because the law which could have brought justice and peace to Mindanao was apparently impeded,” Aquino said in his speech.

“Was it not Sen. Marcos who headed the committee on local government that impeded the passage of the BBL,” Aquino recalled.

“Was it also not Sen. Enrile who kept on interpellating during the last session day at the Senate? Had it not been Enrile and Marcos who pushed for military solution for the ‘Moro problem’ during the dictatorship?” Aquino said.

Like other Filipinos, the Moros in Mindanao were abused during martial law that led to the death of over 100 thousand people in Mindanao and displacement of more than 300 thousand people, mostly Moros.
