Defense Secretary Visits EastMinCom

NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – The Secretary of National Defense Hon. Voltaire T. Gazmin visited the home of Eastern Mindanao Command in Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan Davao City at 9:00 a.m., February 2, 2015. Sec. Gazmin’s visit is part of his field visits to the unified commands to personally meet military field commanders and units; and to assess the security situation in the area.

Sec. Gazmin congratulated the officers, men and women of the Eastern Mindanao Command led by Maj. Gen. Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero for having the right direction towards winning the peace in Eastern Mindanao as well as for the Command’s remarkable accomplishments during the previous year.

During his talk to the personnel, Sec. Gazmin highlighted the AFP’s modernization program; and emphasized the military’s role in the upcoming 2016 national election. “You have to remain apolitical and not get involved in any partisan political activity except to”. Sec. Gazmin said

After the talk, Sec. Gazmin had a boodle fight lunch with the field commanders; soldiers and civilian employees of the Command.
