Dagami Politicians Signs Peace Covenant

DAGAMI, Leyte – About 17 local candidates in this municipality expressed their commitment to Secured and Fair Election on May 09, 2016 by signing a peace covenant here on February 18, 2016. The peace covenant was held at St Joseph parish church led by Col. Francisco F. Mendoza Jr., 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade Commander, Major Arturo M.

Dumalagan, Executive Officer, 19th IB and Police Chief Inspector Eriprando Castila, the Chief of Police, Chief of Police Dagami, Leyte, religious sector and COMELEC.

Col. Mendoza, stressed out that this activity will prevent the occurrence of political killings and other election related violence and it is our mandated task in consonance with the Joint Security Control Center to sustain the peace during National and Local Election 2016 as deputized agency by COMELEC, mechanism are already planned-out such as the deployment of forces in the different checkpoint together with PNP and COMELEC which is considered as election watchlist areas.

Moreover, signing of Peace Covenant is already concluded in the municipalities of Jaro and Palo. However, the municipalities of Sta Fe, Tolosa, Isabel, Pastrana, Alang-Alang, Carigara, Babatngon and Tacloban City manifest their support and cooperation for the conduct of Peace Covenant in their respective areas.

The 8ID leadership vowed full commitment to PNP and COMELEC to pursue its mandate for a Safe and Fair Election 2016 and will ensure that the civil and political rights of voters and candidates are protected.
