First encounter transpired on April 16, while 67IB troops were conducting security operations for Social Amelioration Program
distribution at Sitio San Francisco, Brgy. Campawan. The firefight
lasted for 30 minutes which led to the withdrawal of the enemy leaving
behind two killed CNTs, three AK47 rifles, one M16 rifle, three
International Humanitarian Law banned landmines and subversive
documents.
Army Commanding General lauds 67IB operation on CNTs
FORT
BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – Commanding
General, Philippine Army lauds the 67th Infantry Battalion, 10th
Infantry Division on its successful security operations towards
CPP-NPA-Terrorists (CNTs) members on April 16 and 17, 2020 at Barangay
Campawan, Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Other 67IB units were alerted and immediately conducted pursuit
operations. Around 9:30 a.m., April 17, operating units came across the
escaping CNTs at the same barangay. Another 30-minute firefight led to
the recovery of one AK47 rifle and one M4 assault rifle.
“To the 67th Infantry Battalion troops, I commend the dedication you’ve exemplified in pursuing your tasks and responsibilities to the people and our nation. With the continued presence of such lawless groups, who violated and did not even considered the current crisis in this pandemic, I call you to remain vigilant in hindering them from committing further atrocities especially in this trying time,” said Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay.#
