Bangsamoro Government steps up peacebuilding training for stakeholders

The Bangsamoro Government's Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) has stepped up its peacebuilding efforts, expanding training programs for civil society organizations and security forces in the mainland provinces of the Bangsamoro region.

The 5th Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI) training, held from September 20-23 at Acacia Hotel in Davao City, brought together key stakeholders to strengthen peacebuilding initiatives and foster a culture of peace and understanding.

MPOS Minister Hussein Muñoz emphasized the importance of equipping future leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive sustainable development and promote political stability in the region.

"The Bangsamoro Peace Institute plays a vital role... by equipping our future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to drive sustainable development. It has been a source of hope and a force of change for fostering a culture of peace and understanding among our people," Muñoz said.

Dr. Judith De Guzman, Peacebuilding Project Manager for UNDP Philippines, reiterated the organization's commitment to supporting the Bangsamoro peace process, highlighting the importance of cultivating a culture of peace and promoting non-violence through education and peaceful conflict resolution.

The training focused on strengthening collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to prevent violent conflict during the upcoming national and regional elections, with support from the Australian Embassy in the Philippines.
